Xylocaine Viscous 2% Red Solution 200ml
Description:
Xylocaine viscous 2% is a topical fast acting anaesthetic that is used to help prevent pain and discomfort during certain medical tests and procedures. This solution usually acts to temporarily block the pathway of pain impulses along nerve fibres.
Some of the procedures where it is used are post-tonsillectomy sore throat, dumping syndrome, and instrumentation of the respiratory and gastrointestinal tract.. Xylocaine 2% is applied relieve pain and discomfort associated with irritated or inflamed mucous membranes of the mouth, throat & upper gastrointestinal tract.
Ingredients:
Lignocaine hydrochloride 20mg, Methyl hydroxybenzoate, Propyl hydroxybenzoate, Sodium hydroxide, Saccharin sodium.
Usage Directions:
Reactions and complications are best avoided by administering the lowest possible effective dose. Patients such as the elderly, debilitated, acutely ill and children should be given doses according to their age and physical condition. The bottle should be shaken well prior to use. The usual adult dose for symptomatic treatment of irritated/inflamed mucous membranes of the mouth and pharynx is 15ml undiluted.
For use in the mouth, the solution should be swished around in the mouth for 30 seconds and spat out. For use in the pharynx, the solution should be gargled and may then be swallowed. This dose should not be administered at intervals of less than 3 hours
Storage:
Keep it in a cool place where the temperature stays below 25°C. Do not store it or any other medicine in the bathroom or near a sink.
Warnings:
Always read the label and follow the directions for use.
Do not use Xylocaine Viscous if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless your doctor says it is safe. Ask your doctor about the risks and benefits involved. Do not use Xylocaine Viscous after the use by (expiry) date printed on the pack. Do not use Xylocaine Viscous if the packaging is torn or shows signs of tampering.
Do not use it to treat any other complaints unless your doctor or pharmacist tells you to. Tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing medical conditions or if you are taking any medications before you use this product. The lignocaine in Xylocaine Viscous can be absorbed into the blood, therefore it is important to use the correct amount of this medicine to avoid an overdose. Keep out of reach of children.
